Life in transit

The journey from the barber shop to the salon
From the joint family to the nuclear
Rural to urban
Riding on pathways to speeding on freeways
Radio to television
Playground to amusement parks
Travelling miles for conferences to videoconferencing
Has been fascinating
To see the world shrink
And relationships expand
With not much nostalgia time

  6. Funny you mentioned barber shop...

I recently started going to the little corner barber shop down the street from my house.

It's a real 'old school' men's barber shop: A spinning red & white barber pole, three real barber chairs (with pump-up handles and foot-rests), guys reading sports magazines waiting for their turn, a bunch of combs in that tall jar of blue liquid, and three MALE barbers!

It's a real blast from the past. I love it!

  7. Progress. I like the shrinking of the world. Here I sit, reading the words of people from around the world, sharing in the experiences of people I would never had known otherwise. Incredible.

  8. Sometimes I miss when the world was less instant and more thoughtful. Being able to communicate with folks outside my little town usually makes up for that.

    Mine's (55) Fifteen is far too young . . .
