Book review - The White Tiger

The White TigerThe White Tiger by Aravind Adiga
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A wonderful dramatized book on the urban/rural, rich/poor, feudalism/caste differences that thrive in India despite all its pretensions of modernisation.
The language is fluent, no speed breakers and the thought process while reading is never jolted. The characterisation is flawless and never redundant.
A wonderful insight into the minds and lives of modern day India despite the fact that the book was written almost a decade back. An example of how little India has changed despite the worldly representation. Very relevant to the present Indian situation. Specially where he refers to the citizens as chickens in a coop at the mercy of the coop keeper - the wily corrupt politician.
A must read. Very crisp and to the point. Never overstating a point to emphasise, a pleasure to read.
