An appeal

Religious rituals
Take pride of place
While God is hidden
In the holy books and temples.
Religion, just a means,
Has become an end to achieve.
Man is lost
somewhere in the fight,
to decide whose God is better.
A public manifestation
Of one’s private conversation
with God, leads to mayhem.
Maintain its sacred privacy.

  1. I truly believe God is in our hearts -- in our actions, thoughts and deeds.

Very very well stated on how religion can become, Magic Eye. Thanks.

  2. This was so very insightful.
    Loved your 55 My Friend
I believe a bit like Jannie that God lies within us all.
Thanks for playing, and have a Kick Ass Week-End.....G

  3. i hear you...when it takes a spotlight i wonder the motive behind it...nice 55.

    mine is up!

  4. For me being religious is, trying to be a better person.

If people could stop trying to customize God, we would be in a much happier state .

  5. God is suppose ta forgive I don't!
    Hence differences......

  6. I hear what you are saying. Well done. Have a great weekend.

  7. There's such a lack of compassion and understanding that is mind-boggling. A thoughtful 55.

  8. Wise words for a Friday, very Zen in its message, to pause and ponder.

    thoughtful 55er,

    Have a wonderful week end

  9. It is best not to wear one's religion on one's sleeve. It is a private communication with God. Well written!

  10. Wise words indeed, in your 55! :)

  11. i enjoy my private conversations with god - and i enjoyed your 55

  12. Somehow, religion trotted out to use as a weapon to beat other people into submission just never seems very sacred, does it? It's shocking the evil that's done in the name of good.

  13. smart 55,
    religion is very personal,
    love the motivation in it.

    my 55 is here

  14. Deity is deity-none better than the other. I must agree about a bit of that divine in all of us. What a wonderful thought-provoking poem.

  15. Very true words. I applaud your take on this charged topic.

  16. this is deep and heartfelt and full of wisdom!
