The Jungle Book reviewed

The Jungle BookThe Jungle Book by Rudyard Kipling
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

An amazing book that transports the reader to the jungle with every sentence that so lucidly evokes visuals of the animals that populate the Indian jungles!
Had read the abridged/condensed book decaddes back when in school and also had seen the movie but this is the icing on the cake!
His prose is like poetry and one literally can sing through the book playing with all the characters like Mowgli and his family, The White seal who is the saviour of the seals who are being gruesomely killed by humans, Rikki Tikki Tavi the mongoose who can be a pet and yet be in the wild or Little Toomai the elephant whisperer!
The language, the flow of thoughts in all the stories is so fluid that it is like watching a movie while being a part of it.
A true representation of what a classic should be.
If you love the English language and wish to revel in the Indian jugle with creatures galore, this book is for you! If you miss reading it you would have missed leading a fulsome childhood.

  3. I've never read it, or if I did it was very long ago. It should be easy to find a copy of this classic.
