A report in this morning’s Times of India states that 1,450
of 4,896 of our Members of Parliament and Legislative Assembly have declared
criminal cases of rape, murder, attempt to murder, kidnapping, dacoity and
theft against them! And they are our elected representatives. These are the
people who legislate for us. Do we have to wait for another two years when the
next round of elections be held before we throw them out? Would they be replaced
by people holding genuine respect for our Constitution? Would the citizens have
worthwhile options?
