My thoughts on The Evil Inclination
An intriguing and thought-provoking read that made me reflect on a subject we often prefer to see as something belonging to others—evil.
What I found most interesting is the book's exploration of the darker impulses within ordinary human beings. The idea that the real struggle is not always between good people and bad people, but within each of us, stayed with me.
I particularly liked the way it makes you pause and ask uncomfortable questions: Why do we sometimes act against our own conscience? How easily can temptation, anger, jealousy or self-interest influence our choices? And how much responsibility do we have for recognising and controlling these impulses?
For me, the book's greatest strength is that it doesn't simply talk about evil—it makes you look inward. Some parts are challenging and require reflection, but that is also what makes the book worthwhile.
A book that left me thinking about human nature long after I had finished reading it.
