Zurich to Lucerne by road

Switzerland is fairy tale land! Travelling in Switzerland is like going through the pages of a fairy tale book.

The mountains, lakes and rivers grace the landscape and the cute chocolate cake type houses adorn the scenery.

No words can match this heavenly paradise hence in this post join me on a road trip from Zurich to Lucerne.

We travelled by a coach and the journey was magical. The punctuality of the Swiss people is amazing. They make it very clear that the coach will leave as per schedule and if you are not there at the specified time, well it is your bad luck!

Switzerland Tourism is indeed doing a fine job of ensuring you get what you see in their brochures!

Book review - Kunzum Travel List 1-25

Just finished going through ‘Kunzum Travel List 1-25’ authored by Ajay Jain who is a full time writer, journalist and photographer based in New Delhi. Had received this book for a review and found it well worth the time and a veritable treasure trove of information on destinations in the mountains of Himachal Pradesh, Ladakh and Kashmir. In addition there are also two chapters devoted to the toy trains of Nilgiris and Matheran. And of course no travel book can be complete without the fascinating history and culture laden destinations in Rajasthan that include Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, Bera, Ranthambore and Mount Abu!

A total of twenty five great holiday ideas!

This book does not have travelogues per se. They are more like travel logs and meant for the traveller not the tourist. The tourist will appraoch a travel agent and get his tours planned out and arranged. This book will be the greatest resource for the traveller who likes to explore the fascinating facets of Incrredible India.

Each destination is defined by the routes to get there and the road conditions therein which is a surefire assist to any roadie. It also lists out places enroute where one can stop for a chai or a meal and also the best places to sleepover.

The blurb on the back cover says ‘All travelogues are based on personal exxperiences of the author. Peppered with anecdotes and photographs, the author wants to inspire, not just inform. The book wants to transport you on a holday twice, once when you read it, and again when you live it for yourself’. I agree!
