Natural History Museum, London

Had heard a lot of the fabulous museums in London. So started off with the Natural History Museum.

It is indeed amazing. As soon as we entered we were greeted by a massive dinosaur skeleton. At least that is what I thought with my limited knowledge in such things, till we went close and read what was mentioned there.Yes, it was a plant eating dinosaur that lived 150 million years ago and was one

of the longest land animals that ever existed measuring over 26 metres from nose tip to tail. It was called Diplodocus.

Then we went further up and met up with many more ancient relatives like the Arsinoitherium that

lived around 35 million years ago and the Mesonyx that hunted in North America some 46 million years ago and of course the various whales.

That was indeed a fascinating walk down history.

On our return to our castle, we reached for the hundred and thirty year old brand of the finest scotch - the Black Dog to unwind in the magnificent history that we had evolved from.

Black Dog gently relaxed our tired bodies and showed what a perfect blend of single malts can do!

Cheers!

Arrival in London

On arrival in London we got through all the Government formalities like Immigration and Customs very quickly. We were out within half an hour! Was genuinely surprised after having heard horror stories of time spent in queues. We were just lucky I guess that our flight landed at a time during the lean time at the Heathrow airport.

Strangely did not see a duty free shop till we were out of customs and the one that was there was a tiny one! The variety of products and pricing was lacking and a total turn off. The duty free shopping experience in Mumbai is surely a much much better one than the one on arrival in London.

Just thanked my stars that I had a bought a bottle of Scotch from India. Yes the Black Dog!

As we stepped outside, the only warmth there was in the greeting as our daughter and son-in-law received us. Else it was a dark, overcast and rainy afternoon. Fortunately for us we did not encounter much traffic on our way home too.

Having reached home, we got talking and planning what to do during our stay. The first thing I said we would do is share a bottle of the finest scotch – the Black Dog.

And over some fine sips we relaxed, followed by a sumptuous lunch of Palak chicken and Palak Paneer with Rotis! Could not have asked for a more warm and wonderful reception!

Retired early as were tired after the long flight.

Tomorrow would be a day out in town!

Cheers!

Flight to London

This morning woke up very early for our flight to London from Mumbai for a long holiday. The excitement of international travel was rising along with the temperature in Mumbai. Boy, was I glad to be leaving the steamy conditions of Mumbai!

It was going to be a long nine hour flight and had started preparing for it in the past week. I hate travelling by air, prefer a road trip anyday, and would surely love to do it someday. So as part of the preparations, went out and bought a bottle of one of the finest Scotch in India - Black Dog. No, had no intention of consuming it all during the flight, though given the smoothness, could be a bright possibility.

Our flight was at seven in the morning and we taxied out for take off around fifteen minutes ahead of schedule. A sumptuous breakfast of sausages, omelet, potatoes, and croissant was served and soon after I kept myself busy watching a movie.

Then around twelve o'clock I decided to bring out my bottle of Black Dog and relax for rest of the flight. Called the crew for ice and glass that was served in a jiffy along with crunchy roasted salted peanuts. I replenished my glass with the Centenary Black Dog a couple of times. It was this golden liquid along with the wonderful Jazz and Blues collection on board that let me forget that I was sitting in an aircraft and before I knew it we had arrived! The captain announced that due to tail winds and an early departure from Mumbai we had arrived around forty minutes early!

Thank you Black Dog for making my journey so pleasurable!

Cheers!

The youngest yet the finest!

And here is one which is by far very affordable and yet one of the finest – the eight year old Black Dog Centenary Deluxe. It is a rich and rare premium blended Scotch whisky that is loaded with exceptional characters. It is blended to perfection with a multitude of malt spirits chosen from the various regions of Scotland.

It is amber with golden highlights and when you gently shake it for the bouquet you will love it. The aromas of melted mil toffee, dried peach and orange blossom, honey on toast follow through on a silky entry to a dry yet fruity medium body with golden raisin and delicate heathery peat notes.

And then you sip it. Roll it on your palate to feel the robust body, pronounced rich malt and oak sherry sweetness that spreads warmly in the mouth like waves lapping on the sea shore.

The finish is balanced, long, intense and bright.

No wonder it has won the Silver medal awarded by Internationational Review of Spirits Award.

The alcohol by volume is 42.8%.

The Black Dog range of Scotch Whiskies is indeed one of the finest and the best choice to unwind and relax.
